I have come to the end of Daniel Abraham’s Long Price Quartet. It is still one of my favorite fantasy series. It probably always will be. There is a review here.

This is a series I’ve been meaning to read. I haven’t read your review (in order to stay relatively spoiler-free), but I was just curious as to what you think this fantasy series does differently or better than other series. I trust it does something really well, because I’ve heard such good things about it!
Amy:
Well realized (non-white) cultural background.
Innovative vision of magic.
Decades-long timescale, so characters grow old, have families during series.
No evil overlord – very realistic view of how things go bad even when you try to do good.
And some excellent plotting too.
Thanks, Cheryl! I will definitely give this a try.
(I also like the fact that it has a definite end to the series, from what I’ve heard.)
