While I was at Worldcon I noticed that Gary Wolfe was reading a book called The Gone-Away World by Nick Harkaway. Then I noticed that this very same book was the subject of John Clute’s latest review column on scifi.com. I stopped reading John’s review about half way through because the book sounded so interesting that I wanted to go out and buy it. Too many books…

Way too many books. I saw reference to this one about a month ago, and in the process of digging up information about it came across mention that Harkaway is John le Carre’s son–and of course now I can’t find the site to link.
i’ve read it and enjoyed it.
A rollicking yarn, not without some issues but a lot of great ideas delivered with brio.
I’ve classified it in my personal category of ‘at least good enough to bridge the gap to the next Neal Stephenson’.
