The Shortlist for this year’s Arthur C Clarke Award was announced today. Here they are, with links to my reviews where they exist:

• The City in the Middle of the Night, Charlie Jane Anders (Tor; Titan)
• The Light Brigade, Kameron Hurley (Saga; Angry Robot UK)
• A Memory Called Empire, Arkady Martine (Tor)
• The Old Drift, Namwali Serpell (Hogarth US & UK)
• The Last Astronaut, David Wellington (Hachette)
• Cage of Souls, Adrian Tchaikovsky (Head of Zeus)

Of the three I have read, I’d pick The Light Brigade as the clear winner. But Clarke juries are notoriously unpredictable. In any case, I have some reading to do.
