I have booked my flight for P-Con. I’m flying RyanAir from Bristol. I’m not looking forward to it, but the flight is only an hour so I think I’ll survive.
What I haven’t done yet is book a room. The con hotel is quite expensive (especially as the price is in Euros), so if there is anyone out there who is also going and would be interested in a room share please let me know.
Dear Cheryl,
Two of the best value places to stay in Dublin city centre:
The Harding Hotel
http://hardinghotel.ie/
The Grafton Guest House
http://www.graftonguesthouse.com/
I’ve stayed in both before, and can recommend them. I’ll be staying in the Grafton Guest House myself, and it’s only about a 1 minute walk from the convention hotel. It’s up a flight of stairs so you need to be mobile to stay there.
Both of them are around the same price for the weekend, and both have free wireless. However, the Grafton is closer and offers breakfast (a modest affair but will start you off for the day) included in the price.
The Harding is only a 6/7 minute walk from the con Hotel, so it’s not inconvenient either.
Generally, Dublin is a nightmare if you’ve looking for cheap accommodation, especially in the city centre.
Thanks Maura, I’ll check those out. I did feel I ought to stay in the con hotel for the convention, especially if the con has a room block to meet, but somewhere 1 minute away sounds like a good bet.
I’m booked into the con hotel from Friday for 3 nights and I will be happy to make it a share, since it seems that would suit us both.
My flight from Glasgow is scheduled to arrive about noon on Friday and I have to leave early Monday, as my flight is just before 10am!
OK, that’s all sorted. Huge thanks to Cuddles.
And now I’m feeling much more confident about the Gaiman/Palmer event, provided that it has stopped snowing, and that I don’t need to be sending my passport off anywhere.
