Montreal = Win

So far so good. Of course it always depends on what you want out of a Worldcon site, but here’s why we are happy.

From the front door of our hotel (the Holiday Inn Select) we can see the back door of the convention center across the street. Our hotel is on the edge of Chinatown, and this evening we had a very nice Chinese meal for around CA$15/head (including tip) at a restaurant that is open until 4:00am.

Chinatown: every Worldcon should have one.

More in the morning. Right now we need sleep.

  1. Excellent! I´m thrilled — long time since last I went to a Worldcon (1995, in Glasgow, if memory serves me right).

    I´ll be in Montreal in August. Hope to meet you and the rest of the gang then. Nighty night!

  3. I travelled several times to Montreal in the early-mid nineties when I had a client there and I liked the city a lot. I got to sample the place in deep winter and high summer and it had a lot of appeal. I especially liked the idea of a place with the ingenuity to place a whole shopping centre underground, connected with the metro — so you can shop regardless of the weather. Enjoy !

  4. It is great to see that you have gotten safely to Montreal. I hope it is good authentic Chinese food in Chinatown. I wonder if it has a Japantown like LA.
