SF Signal has a Mind Meld up about the Hugos. I’m in it. Expect much yelling and screaming.

Very nice response. I’m still interested to see how many of the titles you’d have prefered (and various of us have nominated) show up between positions 6 and 16 when the number of nominations is released (and how many votes separate 6 from 16). Concensus is an interesting process, and it’s as much a factor in juried awards as in “popular” ones.
By the way, keep an eye out for a copy of Jo Walton’s Lifelode while you’re on this side of the pond. It’s a NESFA Press limited edition. For my money it’s the 2009 unsung wonder. Possibly you won’t like it as much as I did, since it plays directly to my nerd-interests at every turn, but I think you’ll like it a lot. And it’s virtually un-reviewed. It reads like a fantasy but is SF.
Susan: Consensus is very much the operative word as far as the Hugos are concerned. The voting system is designed to achieve it.
