Yesterday’s post at Biology in Science Fiction picks up the topic of life on the moons of the outer planets. Peggy chooses to concentrate on Jupiter’s moon, Europa, which sadly seems a little hostile. I’m waiting with interest to see what she makes of The Quiet War.

I’m sorry my post seemed hostile. I didn’t mean for it to be. I think Europa is really interesting and one of the best candidates for finding life in our solar system. OK, I was hostile to Freeman Dyson’s wild speculation being treated as informed scientific opinion about biology. That’s one of my pet peeves.
The Quiet War sounds really interesting, and has been on my list of books I’d like to read, but only became available here in the US a few weeks ago. I probably won’t get to it before Christmas at the rate I’m going.
Peggy:
No, not you being hostile, Europa. I thought what I wrote was fairly clear, and it still parses OK to me, but I guess I need to be clearer next time.
Ha, got it. I was a bit cranky at the time I wrote it, so I jumped to that conclusion.
