It goes like this: Clarkesworld is committed to paying excellent rates for the stories, artwork and articles that we publish. In order to do so we need income. And in order to get income we need to persuade you to give us money. One way we can do that is to give you stuff in return, and to make giving us money fun. So if you ever wanted to be an evil overlord… click here.
Personally I can’t wait for Neil to expand the scheme so that I can recruit my own minions.
You need a middle class in there, somewhere between “citizen” and “royalty”. $20–guild member $35 guild master, or something.
Okay, I date back from the days of the bookstore as a customer but you know while I meant to I’ve never gotten around to following the magazine like I should (I can’t stand reading things on a backlit screen.)
Next week after I transfer some funds to my paypal account, I’ll put down for Overlord. Because I believe in supporting the short fiction SF&F venues that is why I subscribe to Analog, Asimov’s & F&SF in hard copy even though I really only read the eMagazine versions I subscribe to via Fictionwise.
Which leads to my next question and request.
Please, please, please can we get Realms and CW available in eBook format preferably via Baen or at least Fictionwise in DRM multi format (mobi please!)
I primarily read stuff in eBook format now and try to avoid DT (Dead Tree) stuff – please, pretty please with sugar on top!
“You need a middle class in there, somewhere between “citizen†and “royaltyâ€. $20–guild member $35 guild master, or something.”
Makes sense. I didn’t want to start with too many categories, but I think I could go back and add something at the $25 mark. I had someone else suggest burgermeister, but I’m still looking for the right name.
“Please, please, please can we get Realms and CW available in eBook format preferably via Baen or at least Fictionwise in DRM multi format (mobi please!)”
That’s currently on my to-do list. Glad to hear that someone is interested!
“least Fictionwise in DRM multi format (mobi please!)”
I meant DRM-Free. Big difference.
And thanks Neil I’m glad its coming.
Oh yes, there will definitely be DRM-free versions. I had been in touch with Fictionwise, but need to follow up with them and see what is going on.
By the way, I added Bürgermeister at the $25 level.
I’d definitely be interested in an ebook version of CW!
Tero, Bürgmeister
Neil–Since you were kind enough to add the category, I used it. (I’d probably prefer to be a “Franklin” rather than a “Burgermeister”, but any “money-grubbing upstart” category will do!)
I’m asking for this for Christmas. I usually get magazine subscriptions anyway, so I’ll see if I can push the relatives to make me an Overlord. I’m already one in my head anyway.
