Just in case you hadn’t noticed, the cricket World Cup Final was played today in Mumbai. India beat Sri Lanka in a fairly close match that featured magnificent performances by players on both sides. I very much enjoyed it, and am delighted that the great Sachin Tendulkar has finally added a World Cup winner’s medal to his trophy cabinet.

Cracking match. I was supporting India, on the whole, but I was weeping for the Sri Lankan bowlers because their fielders were… crap.
And the comeback from India – Gambhir and Dhoni in particular. A well-deserved man of the match for Dhoni and equally for Yuvraj and his man of the tournament.
The best bit for me in terms of watching was the Sri Lankan man in the pub (I chatted to him later) yelling “Yes!” at the same moment I yelled “No!” when Gambhir got out. The synchronicity was brilliant.
Also, there was something delightful and fitting that the cup was won on a six, even though they didn’t need a six to win!
Dang! I meant to stop by here and see if you’d posted but that busy thing really does get in the way at times. 😀 Seriously, it was great news and grand that it was so close, and yes, as clanwilliams say, with it coming down to a six, how fitting is that?
