Convention Planning

A little later than planned, here’s a list of the events I expect to get to this year. It is a little shorter than I’d hoped, primarily due to having had a tax bill some $4k higher than I expected. I won’t make that mistake again. Still, it is good to actually be earning enough that I have to pay a significant amount of taxes.

Anyway, here are some conventions. The ones in square brackets I’m not yet sure about – it depends on a bunch of other factors as yet unresolved.

I’ve decided to give up on the Eurocon. I’d love to go to Moscow, but the visa requirements are pretty complex and I need to cut back somewhere. Rome in 2009 is much more likely.

Another event that may be of interest to people is a con-running convention, ConRunner 2008, to be held in Wolverhampton on June 28-29. I’m told that this will focus mainly on smaller (Eastercon-sized) conventions, but given Vince’s statement of intent at SMOFcon last year I’m sure that some discussion of the next European Worldcon bid will take place.
