Equality Begins At Home

Today is the International Day Against Homophobia (and whatever additional QUILTBAG phobias you see fit to add). I feel that I should be writing something about it. However, over the past week I have seen rather too much of:

  • Feminists hating on trans women, single mothers, sex workers, etc.
  • Gays and lesbians frantically disassociating themselves from trans people
  • Trans people explaining to other trans people that they are Doing Trans Wrong

It seems pretty pointless to try to get the wider world to stop discriminating against us when we can’t stop discriminating against each other.

  1. Not pointless…and not hopeless either. My very amiable next door neighbours…a Gay couple… cause not the slightest disturbance in the fabric of Middle Class Land hereabouts in the North East of Macho Football worshiping Ever So traditionaly Male Dominent Populace- yes, I know Cheryl, but I have my own reasons for hating ‘Footie ‘ and the over exaggerated Macho Culture of the same that polluted my boyhood.

Things will change and, some day, even the stranger variants of feminism may accept you and yours …one of these days. Alas one of these days won’t be too soon. BUT we are living to be rather older than we were…grumble Grumble The Kid s of Today. I’m very nearly 65 – eight months and counting – and I intend to live to be at least 150 and claim my state pension all the while…which will really piss off the Tories.

Now if I can persuade you too to live to be at least 150 then there is a pretty fair chance that you will live to see your gender accepted with perfect equanimity, just as these days in the UK my neighbours are accepted as being well with the borders of normality whilst within my lifespan they would have been committing a criminal offence by declaring their love for each other too publically.
