Explanation for Blindsight

Here’s one for Peter Watts fans. Researchers at the U.S. National Institute of Mental Health believe that they have found an explanation for the phenomenon of Blindsight. It appears that the parts of the eye and brain that actually register visual information to our conscious minds have backups. There’s an overview here, and the full paper is available behind a paywall at Nature.

  1. Paywall? Did you say, Cheryl? Chance will be a fine Thing .. I even refuse to pay fees for The London Times on the basis that if I were to want to read it on a payable basis then I’d buy it on paper .. still, on Medical Research ? Evidently it has been discovered …probably by Male Researchers .. that there’s Hope yet for we Male Persons …

“A nasal spray can make men more in tune with other people’s feelings, say a team of German and UK researchers. ” …

‘Cuddle hormone’ makes men more empathetic ‘ ..

    1. Which is why I mention such things. Because if I hadn’t said there was a paywall then most people who clicked through would complain that I hadn’t told them and wasted their time.

Of course it is one of the basic laws of the Internet that no matter how careful you are in what you write, someone will manage to conclude that you had malicious intent in doing so.
