While I’m thinking about Finncon stuff, I want to make quick mention of some of the people I met there.
Firstly there are Johanna Koljonen and Nina von Rüdiger. These ladies are, collectively, Ms. Mandu, purveyors of fine Finnish feminist manga. I suspect that you’ll be hearing a lot more about them from me. In the meantime, here’s Nina’s web site.
Secondly there is Tanya Tynjälä who is a Peruvian science fiction writer living in Finland. I’m delighted to find someone who knows the Latin American SF scene very well, and I hope to meet a lot of new people with Tanya’s help. Her web site is in Spanish, French and Finnish.
Update: Language list corrected as per Jukka below.
“Her web site is in Spanish, French and Swedish.”
Perhaps not so much in Swedish as in Finnish. 🙂
Oh my, I am in a panic getting packed, aren’t I. Thank you, Jukka!
Hi! Sorry I was all nonplussed when you stopped by the table, I was just like “who is this person who I remember seeing being important taking a picture of me, what did I do” and still not quite on Finland time. Then was pleased of course when you said who you were, but shy. Was good to meet you in person finally though, and hearing your Masq banter made me pissed I’d fallen asleep and got in too late to see the Masquerade! Hopefully we’ll cross paths again although I’m not at Denvention…I will be at Anticipation! ( : Just got back to the States last night, had very intermittent internet access in Finland.
Also made some good friends in Finland, Finnish fandom are so lovely! will have to keep my eye on Iceland air for cheap tix, although I already promised to come to Turku 2011 barring major disaster.
Cheers!
