San Francisco has been named the “most walkable” city in the USA. “Well,” I hear you ask, “is that because of the hills or despite them?” The latter, it appears. We just have a bunch of great neighborhoods. And indeed I have spent many a happy hour strolling around The City. If only the burbs were as walker-friendly.

Depends on the ‘burb :>. I spent a great deal of my youth happily walking all over Berkeley. But the southern ones you tend to inhabit don’t have quite the compactness of the northern ones ;>.
I suspect that the good citizens of the People’s Republic of Berkeley would be most offended to have their city described as a suburb of San Francisco.
If Fremont would just get on and build Centerville Mall we’d be fine, but local government being what it is I doubt that Kevin and I will see it in our lifetimes.
Probably right — we never thought of ourselves as such — but on paper, it fits ;>.
