Music Fusion

Via a British friend who lives in Sweden I have just discovered Salsa Celtica. What do you reckon, oh Brazilian friends, can Edinburgh boys salsa?

  1. Sometimes I think Celtic music must be the most versatile stuff in the world. This one was new to me. I’d heard Celtic mixed with rock, funk, punk, rap, American country, Indian, African folk, and Arabic folk music before, but never Salsa.

Sounds good! I’ll look them up.

  2. Have no idea, Cheryl. We´ve got dozens of different rhythms here, but salsa is not one of them (it´s originally from the Caribbean, if I´m not mistaken).

But the video is great! I´d dance the Salsa Celtica gladly! 😉

  3. It is Cuban, I think. But that makes it more your side of the Atlantic than mine. Besides, you guys are experts on dance rhythms, right?

  4. Sure we are! Most of my nerdish friends can´t dance at all, but I´m proud to say I can dance – rock, samba, bossa nova (although bossa nova is mostly a dance for couples, cheek-to-cheek, but it´s very romantic and I like it – I´m a romantic guy).

In the Northeastern region we have a plethora of popular dances which are really something: frevo (in Recife, where Jacques lives), “coco-de-embolada”, forró, and many, many others. Hmm, come to think of it, a Worldcon in Recife (or in Bahia) would be great, wouldn´t it? 🙂

  5. Hmm, might be a little warm for some people. I’d still go for Rio myself.

I have two left feet, but I can pogo (and after much patience the Far Isles folks managed to teach me to pavane).

  6. Sorry, I can’t dance. But I can pogo, moshpit ad headbang too! \,,/

And here’s pretty cold lately, Cheryl. About 24 degrees. At night. Freezing.:)
