Like the heading says, you can now buy a pre-support for the San José in 2018 Worldcon bid. The sales page is here.
As always I should warn you that supporting a Worldcon bid does not guarantee that it will win the bid, or that you will get anything back for you money. Please read the descriptions of the various support levels carefully. Hopefully, by having an online pre-support registration system, we will make it easier for people around the world to support the bid. Personally I’d also very much like to see online voting for site selection, but we can’t guarantee that.
We’re working with Joni to try online site selection for 2017, or some form of at least sanctioned emailing in one’s ballot, but it’s unclear what will be allowed & what people will think is feasible. I know that there were many people frustrated last year with how difficult it was to get one’s ballot to the ballot box if you weren’t at the convention, particularly if you weren’t American, since there were extra hurdles with ballots potentially lost in the mail or arriving too late.
We are trying, though!
