I am, of course, absolutely delighted for Matt Cain, and for all of my Giants fan friends. This is right up there with winning the World Series. I so wish I could have been there, or at least have been home watching it with Kevin.
On the other hand, I can’t help but wonder what people (especially Americans) would say if I reported that a cricket match had taken place in which one side scored no runs. 😉
I would probably first ask, “How likely (or UNlikely) is that to happen?”
The lowest ever score in a Test Match is 26 by New Zealand against England in 1955. The lowest score by a recognized professional team is 12 by Northamptonshire against Gloucesteshire in 1907. The official records also include a score of 6 by a team called “The Bs” who played England in 1810. They appear to have all played for county sides, and it sounds like a trials match, but all of the players would have been “gentlemen” in those days.
