Yes, Sam Jordison’s tour through the history of the Hugo Awards has reached Stand on Zanzibar by John Brunner. Sam is mostly impressed, despite the obvious challenge of reading a book published in 1968 and set in 2010.

It would be an interesting challenge to read a lot of classic SF in the year in which it’s set.
A bit late for that idea now. I should have started in 1984. I did read about Julian West in 2000 though.
I must re-read that again. As I recall, there was a heavy environmental slant to the story. Hee.
The Sheep Look Up is much stronger on environment issues and, IMHO, a better book.
