  1. Hi Cheryl

As admirable as these efforts are, aren’t they already too late? I would have thought the only way to *save* Realms of Fantasy would be to offer to buy it from Sovereign Media. I’m not entirely sure how sound a business venture that would be.

    Best,

I suspect that you are right. However, there’s no accounting for the enthusiasm of fans in the face of a lost cause. The outcome may be a Realms-like online magazine providing an outlet for the sort of fiction that Realms used to published. That might be a good result.

  3. Hi Cheryl & Jonathan,

Yeah, we’re playing “catch-up” and trying to save RoF after the fact, but it seems crazy not to try. After all, F&SF just went to 6 issues per year and Year’s Best Fantasy & Horror has been cancelled. Oddly enough, the New York Times recently ran an article that said reading among adults was up. In the face of trends like this, I can’t help but to think that a little enthusiasm could go a long way.

Also, maybe it’s just time for us to think how new short fiction is read and sold.

In any event, I have faith that something good will come out of this in the long run.

    Thanks for your support.

    Cheers,
    Erin
