Almost Six Nations time again, and we can look forward to a couple of titanic cross-channel bouts. Italy visit Wales, and England travel to France.
One thing you can say about our continental cousins, they never let a little thing like a game of rugby get in the way of the serious business of sex. Consequently, if you want to be one of the glamor boys who plays for Stade Français in Paris, not only do you have to wear pink, you also get asked to pose for their annual nude calendar. Wow, do these guys have muscle.
And if that stuff is to your liking you might want to check out this blog. The English and French versions appear to have different content.
I believe that Stade is a shame for rugby, no doubt that they have wonderful players, amongst them my fellow Argentineans Juan M. Hernandez, Ignacio Corleto, Roncero, and so on, Agustin Pichot gave up months ago. What M. Max Guazzini is doing with Stade and his players, just reading their contracts, is against the spirit of rugby. Rugby players are that players not stripers. There is no any club in the world that is doing such digusting propaganda “for charity” purposes when it is obscene and a terrible scandal for rugby. If they want to support charities they can organize lots of games with such aim, but not transforming their players in cabaret dancers. I spoke with a former Stade and he told me why Guazzini is doing this, but I would rather not say a word about his statement, it is a proof of the lack of ethics of the “Boss” of this club.
Well, as you say, those who don’t like it can always play elsewhere. At least, I’m certainly hoping that players such as Hernandez and Pichot can get other contracts. Though I am looking forward to the day when they can play at home because there is a Super 14 style tournament running in the Americas.
As to it being obscene, I suspect they have different views on that in France and Italy. Those calendars do seem to be very popular.
