Just in case you thought it was safe to go back into the SFWA after the recent election results, Jayme Lynn Blaschke has the low-down on the latest piece of in-fighting.

I agree with Jayme and posted a comment to that effect. However, I’m not sure it’s fair to characterize this as in-fighting just yet — because almost any issue by nature will bring up opinions pro and con. Why is it in-fighting as opposed to dicussion, when it happened in a meeting at which people were asked their opinions?
I’m afraid I have to take issue with this particular characterization as well. The discussion was quite civil, even if the opposing sides staked out their positions in rapid order.
I predicted in my rant that this *will* degenerate into rampant in-fighting, as this is the historical nature of SFWA. But as of this time all discussion is quite well-behaved.
It is in-fighting because Jayme began his post with, “Let the pit fighting begin anew.” If you don’t want your dirty laundry aired in public, don’t talk about it in public, and certainly don’t try to blame others for stirring things up when they’ve just reported what you’ve said.
*shrugs*
Difference of interpretation. Nothing I feel compelled to get bent out of shape over.
Thank you.
Fair enough. I wasn’t trying to blame anyone, just honestly curious about the characterization. I didn’t think to relate it to the opening of Jayme’s post, which was my oversight.
