I’ve had a few more comments on the announcement about the St. Petersburg Eurocon that suggest it isn’t going to be that expensive after all. Also the con committee is being very open and proactive. Most of the action is happening on Facebook in this group. They have also set up a LiveJournal community. And there’s something on Google+ if anyone actually uses it. This is all very promising. I’m crossing my fingers that one or two of the ConCom will be able to make it to Helsinki for Finncon, in which case I’ll try to arrange a chat.

Added myself to LJ Community. You know what I think of FartBook.
Looking very promising.
I totally sympathize with you regarding FartBook. I loathe it. Unfortunately lots of people, especially in LGBT communities, swear by it so I have to maintain an account.
No matter what you think of Facebook, if you’re organizing anything nowadays that needs publicity, it is currently by far the most effective way of spreading information, generating feedback, and getting people talking.
That sorts it then. I’ll let somebody else do the organising.
You have my sympathies and understanding. Thee are some consolations, I guess, to being a curmudgeonly 70 year old. 🙂
