One of the first articles I bought for Clarkesworld was this one, which looks at the real-world possibilities for favorite science-fiction vehicles such as flying cars and jet-packs. Amongst the prototypes featured were the Transition from Terrafugia. The good news is that the FAA has finally given approval for it to go on sale. Production models should be available towards the end of 2011. The price is a cool $194,000, but the company claims to already have taken orders for 70 of them. Verily, we are living in the future.

What will ‘ Go on Sale ‘ is just another Light Aircraft that will have to fit in with the demands of Mass Air Transportation by People who will demand that they be allowed to fly to, say, California at Moderate cost without Silly People in Flying Cars getting in the way of the Flight paths .. unless those Silly People were willing to PAY for the Privilege in Mega Bucks …. Cheap at Many Times the Price if you already have more Money than you can possibly spend in one life time .. oh the Joy of showing the Plebes their Place as you delay the Mass Transport to The American Colonies so that You Might Fly at your own personal High Speed Convenience from the City of London to your Georgian Mansion in the English Home Counties.
