And why not? Say I. That’ll give moaning minnie Americans 3 years in their own back yards before we Euro’s take it back.
A lot will depend on the imprssion Shamrokon makes and with Finland doing a bang up job in 2015.
I note that the Finns have plenty of experience of running Worldcon-sized events, whereas Shamrokon will, I think, be the biggest thing Irish fandom has done. On the other hand, Irish fans have a long history of Worldcon, Eastercon and Eurocon involvement
Three in a row? 2017 is Montréal vs. Japan.
Definitely think it’s doable. I do regard it as a series of steps that have to be done correctly. Shamrokon, Hesingiin 2015, each success can be built upon to get Dublin the vote and then run a great event. The Irish, like Finns know how to combine serious activity with having a good time.
