One Saturday, as we hastened to turn around from attending an SFSFC Board Meeting to heading into San Francisco for SF in SF, Kevin, who had been watching Mama Mia on a plane flight, commented that there ought to be a SMOFish filk song called “Busy, busy, busy†to the tune of “Money, money, money.†This was too good a challenge to pass up, so on the train into San Francisco I wrote the following:
Busy, Busy, Busy
Lyrics: Cheryl Morgam
Tune: Money, money, money (Abba)
I work all night, I work all day, to run the cons that you attend
Ain’t it sad
We can’t afford to pay for staff, on volunteers we do depend
That’s too bad
In my dreams I have time off
If I could stop being a SMOF
I wouldn’t have to work at all, I’d fool around and have a ball…
Busy, busy, busy
I’m so busy
Seems I’m always on
Busy, busy, busy
Always busy
Working for fandom
Aha-ahaaa
All the things I could do
But next year I must be working
On another con
I’m on a treadmill, I can’t stop, I’ll keep on working ‘till I drop
Oh poor you
There’s one solution I can see, a means by which I can be free
What’s to do?
So I must bid to run Worldcon
In Las Vegas, or in London
To chair the big one’s my desire, and when it’s done I can retire…
Busy, busy, busy
I’m so busy
Seems I’m always on
Busy, busy, busy
Always busy
Working for fandom
Aha-ahaaa
All the things I could do
But next month I must be working
On another con
Busy, busy, busy
I’m so busy
Seems I’m always on
Busy, busy, busy
Always busy
Working for fandom
Aha-ahaaa
All the things I could do
But next week I must be working
On another con
On another con
