California’s Attorney General turns down a request to stop same-sex marriages until the matter can be put to public vote. The voters will, of course, have their say eventually, but state officials can’t just be overturning court rulings willy-nilly.

There’s a poll on that Chronicle article, and it is currently running 87% in favor of Brown’s decision. You may want to give it some help anyway.
